“The new Best for Kids™ certification program recently launched by the window covering industry will assist in educating consumers about potential window-cord hazards facing young children and will aid consumers in making the right choice when selecting window coverings. In order to be eligible for this certification, manufacturers must meet the specific program criteria and submit their window covering products to a designated third party testing laboratory. We had previously mentioned that the Window Covering Manufacturers Association (WCMA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) have created this new standard to help with cutting down on the hazards of window coverings with children and pets in homes. The standard requires that all manufacturers, distributors, or sellers can only stock cordless or inaccessible cord window coverings. You will not be able to get stock corded blinds at big box retailers.
