Frequently Asked Questions

  • The right choice depends on your needs, style, and budget. For light control and privacy, roller shades, cellular shades, and vertical blinds are excellent options. For a softer, more elegant look, consider sheer shadings or Roman shades. If energy efficiency is your priority, cellular shades are a great option, while natural materials like woven woods add warmth and texture. Motorized options are perfect for convenience and modern living.

We understand the options may seem endless and overwhelming, that’s why we are here. Our sales consultants are experts at helping you find what is best for your home and making the whole process an ease. Let us help with the decision fatigue!

  • The primary difference between hard and soft window treatments lies in their material and functionality…

    Hard Window Treatments

    1. Materials: Typically made from rigid, durable materials such as wood, metal, or vinyl.

    2. Examples: Blinds, shades, and shutters.

    3. Functionality: These are designed for control over light, privacy, and insulation. They offer precise adjustments, such as tilting slats or raising/lowering shades.

    Soft Window Treatments

    1. Materials: Made from fabrics, textiles, or other soft materials.

    2. Examples: Curtains, drapes, cornices, and Roman shades.

    3. Functionality: These offer a softer aesthetic and provide similar privacy, light control, and insulation, but with a more decorative appeal. They tend to add texture and color to a room.

In summary, hard treatments are typically functional and offer precise control, while soft treatments are more about adding visual appeal and softness to a space.

  • Ease of use is of utmost importance to us. We only sell products from top-tier manufacturers with their products being designed to require MINIMAL care and cleaning. Here are some care tips to increase the longevity of your investment…

    1. Wood Products - Regular, light dusting using the provided microfiber duster. Do not use any chemicals or household cleaning agents on these products. Only dusting is required!

    2. Fabric Sheers & Shadings - Vacuum gently using a brush attachment on any vacuum cleaner or blow away dirt and debris using a can of compressed air. A regular, light dusting is acceptable - but do NOT use magnetic cleaners such as a dusting mitt on light-dimming fabrics as it will damage the backing.

    3. Vinyl, Composite, and Plastic Products - Regular, light dusting using the provided microfiber duster. Only use mild soap and water for any spot cleaning needed.

    4. Removing Bugs - In the rare instance that a bug becomes trapped in your shade, use a can of compressed air or hairdryer on a cool setting to blow them out. Please resist sticking an item inside of your shade as this may harm the structure and/or fabric of the shade.

  • Blinds and shutters are the most popular window coverings, but they are quite different in style and functionality. Blinds are typically made from slats of materials like wood, vinyl, aluminum, or fabric. They can be adjusted to control light and privacy by tilting or raising/lowering the slats. Shutters, on the other hand, are solid panels, often with adjustable louvers, that cover the window. Made from wood, composite, or vinyl, shutters are typically hinged and can be opened fully or have their louvers adjusted for light control. Shutters have a more classic, architectural look and offer increased durability and insulation.

  • As of June 2024, none of our manufacturers provide blinds with cords due to the safety regulations put in place by the Window Covering Manufacturers Association (WCMA) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to protect young children and pets. We only offer cordless or motorized options to ensure safety and compliance with current laws.

  • Yes, options like vinyl, faux wood, and solar shades are moisture-resistant and ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. Avoid natural materials like bamboo or fabric-based shades in high-humidity areas.

  • Absolutely! Many styles of window coverings come with room-darkening or blackout fabrics/liners. These are perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, and home theaters!

  • Custom window treatments can be a game-changer for your home. Not only do they offer a perfect fit and unique design options that reflect your personal style, but they also bring a level of quality and functionality that store-bought alternatives can’t match. Whether you are looking for light control, increased privacy, or even improved energy efficiency, custom window coverings are designed specifically for your space. While they may cost a bit more upfront, their lasting durability and the way they enhance your home’s overall look and feel can make them well worth the investment. Plus, there’s something special about having window treatments that are made just for you!

  • The Blinds Man is a locally owned, family business that strives to always put our customers and their vision first! It is rare for a brick and mortar window treatment business to last longer than 5 years, but we have been blessed to have been in business for over 20 years. We love taking the time to customize the window treatment shopping experience by educating our customers on our various products and how they will meet their unique needs. A part of that education is our unmatched immersive showroom where customers can see, feel, and experience all of our products and their different operating systems. The Blinds Man has a team with over 200 years of combined experience in this industry - you can trust that you will be well taken care of with us.

  • Pricing really depends upon materials, style, size, and features. There is no “ballpark” price for any of our products due to specific customization required for each project. We offer free consultations where one of our sales consultants will come out to your house, measure, and provide an estimate based upon your wants and needs for your home!

  • While all of our products carry a manufacturer’s warranty, the Blinds Man also offers a one-year service warranty on all products purchased from and installed by us.

  • Yes, we are elated to now have a partnership with Wells Fargo to offer three zero-percent interest financing options to all of our customers!

  • Yes! Cellular shades are particularly effective due to their honeycomb structure, which traps air to insulate your windows. Roller shades with blackout fabrics block heat, while solar shades reduce UV rays and glare, helping maintain indoor temperatures and protect furniture.

What our clients are saying

“We purchased all the window treatments for our newly constructed townhome from The Blinds Man. From roller blinds to plantation shutters and a few things in between, they offered the best quality products. But what impressed us most was the personal service we received nine years after the original installations, when we had a few minor issues of different kinds. The manager followed through with us to be sure that everything was fixed to even better than the original installation. This kind of personal follow through is very rare and proves what an outstanding local business The Blinds Man is. We are lucky to have chosen them to do our work.”
